The six states of discourse

post draft

If discourse has weather, it has states. At any given moment, a conversation, a market category, a timeline is in one of six: biased, focused, diversified, dispersed, transitional, productive. Each state has a signature. Each state responds to different moves.

Knowing the state tells you which intervention compounds and which backfires. A bridging post into a biased state lands differently than the same post into a productive one. Naming the six gives you a map before you pick a route.
